Exactly this time last year I was on a busy street in Kyoto. It was the only rainy day we’ve got so the first thing that could cross my mind was: craft shops. Japan, let’s see what you’ve got.
Tree hours later, I was carrying a huge smile and five bags full of colorful textiles. One of them was this cute yellow fabric with boston terriers and all I can see was a nice pillow to brighten up for my reading corner.
It only took me half an hour to make it and it could be an amazing gift for a dog lover :)
– 1/2 yard of cotton fabric with a cute pattern
– 1/2 yard of white cotton fabric
– standard sewing machine
– straight pins
– fabric scissors
– pillow batting
Take the two fabric pieces, and iron it smooth.
Place the pins around the edges of the fabric to keep it in position, and then start sewing the edge around the outside of the pillow with a 1/2″ seam allowance. It’s better to use a sewing machine, but if you have time, you can do it by hand, too.
After this, flip your pillow cover inside out and prepare the filling. It can be polyester, microbeads, wool, or even some herbs like buckwheat with lavender.
It looks so cute and it makes my space feels cozy, so next time you’ll see a fabric shop, just go ahead!
